Site, Sip & Swim

A perfect Oaxaca day. We head out into the eastern valley and our first stop is at one of the lesser visited arceological sites in the valley (Dainzu, Lambityeco or Yagul). After plunging into the 10,000 year old history of the Oaxaca Valley, we drive out about another hour to a spectacular slot canyon, Las Salinas. Here we head down two short ladders and get to walk into the canyon, where mineralized water pushes its way through the canyon walls. We'll enjoy the view of Hierve el Agua in the distance and swim the the small "cenote" at the end of the canyon.

After our swim, we will head back through the village and enjoy catered lunch at a friend's palenque, where we will also get to experience the artesanal mezcal making process and sample some of Oaxaca's finest distilate.
